Where the rumor came from
A September 11, 2025 report noted that Goldberg and Nikki Bella banners had appeared in The Island. It cited a September 10 post from SmackDown Hotel claiming the two could reportedly be unlocked by completing a new expansion story. The report itself cautioned that the banners did not confirm the Hall of Famers would be playable. Those clues prompted the speculation; they were not proof of free access.

What 2K confirmed
On September 17, 2025, 2K announced: “WWE 2K25 welcomes Goldberg and Nikki Bella, playable Superstars featured in the new Hall of Legends expansion for The Island.” The announcement confirms that both are playable in the game through that expansion. It does not state the exact method of unlocking them or whether access requires an additional payment.

2K listed the Hall of Legends expansion for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement does not list the expansion for other platforms, so do not assume those versions have the same access route.

Are they free, and how do you unlock them?
The available official announcement confirms their placement in Hall of Legends for The Island, but it does not say whether the expansion is free, whether the characters require story progression, or whether either condition changed later. That leaves the title’s “for free” claim unverified: the characters’ arrival is confirmed, but a free standalone DLC pack is not.

2K’s earlier post-launch plan described five character packs, available separately and through the Season Pass, and named the Wyatt Sicks as a pre-order bonus. The later announcement places Goldberg and Nikki Bella in Hall of Legends instead. It does not identify them as a sixth paid pack, as part of the Season Pass, or as free standalone DLC.
