Apple’s March 26, 2025, Behind the Mac feature, “How the mind-splitting world of Severance comes together on Mac,” takes viewers inside the editing of Severance Season 2—especially the finale, “Cold Harbor.” Supervising editor Geoffrey Richman, director and executive producer Ben Stiller, and other editors discuss how the finale came together. Apple warns that the video contains Season 2 spoilers.
What the video covers
Apple’s feature focuses on the work of shaping “Cold Harbor,” including a marching-band sequence. Richman describes collaborating with Stiller and sometimes working through individual scenes before full episode assemblies were ready. The edit and composer Theodore Shapiro’s score were also developing alongside one another.
Apple reports that Richman organized the marching-band footage for more than a week. He said there were about 70 angles and takes to choose from, which he synchronized in a multicam clip arranged in banks of nine, or 3-by-3 arrays. Those figures describe this particular production anecdote, not a typical editing schedule or a general measure of television editing.
How Geoffrey Richman worked across locations
Apple describes a setup that connected Richman’s home edit bay to post-production in Manhattan’s West Village. At home, he used an iMac remotely connected to a Mac mini running Avid at the facility. He also used a MacBook Pro on set and during a visit with Stiller, connecting the laptop to a television to review edits. Apple says Richman used iCloud and Continuity across devices.

“I can work on my laptop and I can work on my iMac, and I can work at the post facility or I can work at Ben’s office, and as long as I’m logged into my account, everything I do shows up everywhere.”
That is Richman describing his own workflow in Apple’s feature. It is not an independent performance test, a detailed technical specification, or a recommendation that the same devices and services will suit every editor. Apple does not identify the MacBook Pro model or specify its screen size, processor, memory, or storage.

Where to watch the Severance editing feature
Apple’s US Severance show page lists a 12-minute bonus item called “Behind the Mac: Editing.” The listing is a useful route to the feature, although storefront catalogs and availability can vary by region and change over time. Don’t confuse it with Apple’s other Severance video
