Antonia Lofaso says she and her daughter, Xea Myers, remember rapper Heavy D throughout the year—not only on anniversaries. In a PEOPLE interview republished by Yahoo on October 17, 2025, Lofaso described the family keepsakes that help Xea feel close to her father and reflected on how his death shaped her daughter’s view of life and relationships.
How Lofaso and her daughter remember Heavy D
Asked how they keep Heavy D’s memory alive, Lofaso answered: “Every birthday, every holiday,” Their remembrance is woven into family life rather than limited to a single date.
Lofaso said Xea keeps possessions that belonged to her father, including his furniture, his old bed and his artwork. These objects offer a tangible connection to him within the family home.
What Lofaso says the loss taught Xea
Lofaso described Heavy D’s death as a loss Xea experienced at a very young age. “Unfortunately, death is the most natural part of our lives and, unfortunately, my daughter had to learn that at a very, very young age,” she said.
