Annie Knight said she was dismissed from a new job after her employer discovered her OnlyFans account. She described receiving an email on her fifth day at work, after going home sick; the employer is not named in the available reports, and the account of the termination comes from Knight and coverage of her appearance on SBS’s Insight.
What Knight said happened
Knight told Insight that she had just started a new job and went home sick on her fifth day. She said an email arrived stating “termination of contract.” PerthNow reproduced her account: “I had just started a new job. I was on day five and I actually went home sick that day and I received an email saying ‘termination of contract’.” PerthNow reported the account on 10 October 2023.
The email, as Knight described it, included screenshots of her account and gave three reasons for ending the contract:
- She allegedly had not disclosed a side business.
- She allegedly had not sought permission.
- She had allegedly shared explicit images online with crude language.
These are reasons Knight said appeared in the email, not independently confirmed employer findings. The employer is not identified in the reports cited here, and they do not include a direct statement from the employer.

What is established—and what is not
SBS’s Insight video listing confirms that the program presented Knight’s account of being fired after her employer discovered her OnlyFans account. The listing characterized her as “upset and angry.” SBS published the listing on 23 May 2023.
The available reporting supports describing this as Knight’s account of a dismissal. It does not establish the employer’s identity, the exact contractual terms, or whether the reported reasons were accurate or consistent with a workplace policy. No contract, termination letter, employment record, or direct employer response is provided in these sources. The reports therefore do not determine whether the termination was lawful, discriminatory, or contractually justified.

Where the “300” figure comes from
The figure in the headline refers to an earlier claim attributed to Knight, not an independently verified count or research finding. PerthNow reported that she had told The Kyle and Jackie O Show she had slept with 300 men and women within one year. That claim predates the dismissal coverage and is separate from Knight’s account of losing the job.

Knight’s story appeared in Insight’s broader examination of online intimate-content work. SBS describes the program as a current-affairs series built around debate and first-person accounts; its episode “Sex and Subscribers” considered who creates and buys intimate content online and discussed its benefits and drawbacks. That context does not make Knight’s experience representative of all online creators.

In a later SBS feature, Knight described the episode as a reality check about stigma and discussed how the attention affected her online earnings. The feature also included broader comments from Mish Pony, CEO of Scarlet Alliance, about financial discrimination and risks associated with platforms. Those comments provide wider context; they are not evidence about Knight’s former employer or the reasons for her termination. Read SBS’s feature on the challenges facing online sex workers.
