What is Homer Laffoon selling?
Us Weekly reported in March 2025 that Laffoon, administrator of Heche’s estate, had moved tangible property into secure storage and hired a company to help sell estate assets, including Heche’s piano. He was also working to collect acting royalties and identify additional business assets. The reporting describes personal property and other estate assets; it does not establish that he was selling real estate owned by Heche. (Us Weekly, March 2025)
Heche died on August 11, 2022, aged 53, after injuries from a Los Angeles car crash. Us Weekly reported that she died without a will and that Laffoon was appointed administrator in November 2022. A California estate-law firm identifies the probate matter as Estate of Anne Celeste Heche, Los Angeles Superior Court case 22STPB08683; these details come from secondary reporting and commentary, not a directly reviewed court docket. What does the $4.1 million figure mean?
Us Weekly reported in 2025 that creditors had filed claims totaling approximately $4.1 million. That is the amount of claims reported against the estate, not proof that a court awarded that sum or that it is the final balance owed. Claims can be disputed, adjusted, settled or otherwise resolved in probate.

The largest reported claims related to damage from the 2022 crash. In 2024, the Los Angeles Times reported that Lynne Mishele and property owners Jennifer and John Durand each sought $2 million. Those were requested amounts, not adjudicated damages. Us Weekly separately reported that actor Thomas Jane sought $149,106, saying Heche owed him for a loan. How do reported assets compare with the claims?
Two reports give different asset estimates because they concern different dates and filings. They should not be treated as a single final valuation.

The 2024 Times account also described Heche’s wholly owned corporation used for career projects and business functions, an interest in a podcast-related LLC, and projected memoir proceeds of less than $25,000. That memoir figure was a projection attributed to the estate report, not an audited current sales total. (Los Angeles Times)
In reporting about the filing, Laffoon said: “Based on the anticipated value of the combined inventories and appraisals, and the filed creditor claims, the estate is insolvent.” The statement describes his assessment based on anticipated asset values and filed claims; it is not itself a court ruling on every claim. Has the estate settled with Lynne Mishele?
Not conclusively, based on the latest reported update available here. In a June 19, 2026 report, TMZ said Mishele disputed that she had reached a settlement with Laffoon. She acknowledged settlement discussions and said she wanted a complete accounting before agreeing to a deal. TMZ also reported that a November 2025 filing by Laffoon described a tentative settlement. These reports establish a disagreement about the status of negotiations, not a final ruling or a completed settlement. (TMZ, June 19, 2026)
