News. Both outlets described the outing as her first public sighting in about two years. That is the outlets’ characterization, not a confirmed record of every time she may have appeared in public.
What was reported about Anna Duggar’s outing
E! News reported that photographs were taken at the school basketball game on December 10. TMZ said video showed Anna arriving with a young woman and leaving with a friend after the game. The outlets also noted that she wore jeans and a wedding ring. These are reported observations; they do not establish what Anna thinks about her marriage or what she intends to do.

TMZ and E! News published their accounts on December 17, 2024. E! reported that Anna and Josh Duggar have seven children. Neither report included a statement from Anna about the outing, her marriage, or Josh’s imprisonment.
Why reports called it her first public sighting in about two years
Both outlets used the roughly two-year framing when describing the appearance. The available reports do not establish a complete record of Anna’s public appearances over that period, so the wording should be understood as their description rather than proof that she had not been seen publicly at all. The December 2024 game is a historical event, not a current sighting.

Josh Duggar’s conviction and sentence
The U.S. Department of Justice says a federal jury convicted Josh Duggar in December 2021 of receiving and possessing material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. On May 25, 2022, he was sentenced to 151 months in prison on the count of receiving that material. Entertainment coverage sometimes rounds that term to 12 years; 151 months is the official sentence figure.
In a February 2024 filing, the DOJ’s Office of the Solicitor General said the court of appeals affirmed the conviction and described a 20-year supervised-release term to follow imprisonment. The Department’s December 9, 2021 conviction announcement quoted Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite Jr.: “Today’s verdict sends a message that we will track down and prosecute people who download and view child sexual abuse material, regardless of the lengths they go to conceal their conduct.” That statement addressed the federal conviction, not Anna’s appearance.
