Anna Delvey’s exact answer to Good Morning America’s question about her favorite part of Dancing with the Stars was “getting eliminated.” The remark came the day after Delvey and professional partner Ezra Sosa were sent home in season 33. On the show, when asked what she would take away from the experience, she had answered, “Nothing.” Those were separate remarks in consecutive interviews—not one combined quote.
What did Anna Delvey say was her favorite part of DWTS?
Asked by Good Morning America about her favorite part of the experience, Delvey replied, “getting eliminated.” The exchange followed her elimination from Dancing with the Stars with Sosa in the show’s second week.

The line was easy to conflate with her answer on the live show. Immediately after the elimination, the hosts asked what she would take away from competing. Delvey said, “Nothing.” The two answers came in different settings: “Nothing” on the elimination broadcast, and “getting eliminated” in her follow-up interview with Good Morning America.
When were Delvey and Ezra Sosa eliminated?
Delvey and Sosa were eliminated on September 24, 2024, during season 33’s second week. Their final dance was a quickstep to KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See.” The Associated Press reported that eliminations had begun in the second week and were based on viewer votes. Tori Spelling and her professional partner, Pasha Pashkov, were also eliminated that night.

ABC reported that Delvey and Sosa’s combined score across the two nights was 35. That figure describes this pair’s episode scores; it is not a season-wide statistic or a measure of audience voting.
How did Ezra Sosa and Carrie Ann Inaba react?
Sosa described a different side of his partner
Sosa’s public goodbye was supportive. He acknowledged that Delvey had been controversial, but wrote that working with her let him see “a different side— one filled with her hard work, determination, and resilience.” He thanked her for dancing with him and for opening up. Good Morning America described Sosa as a first-time professional dancer on the show.

Inaba criticized the “Nothing” answer
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba took issue with Delvey’s response on the elimination broadcast. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, as reported by Good Morning America, Inaba said the answer was dismissive of the opportunity, Sosa, and the people who worked on the program. She said the team had made an effort to give Delvey a fair opportunity, and concluded, “A little gratitude could have changed the narrative.”
Inaba was responding to the on-show “Nothing” remark. Her criticism should not be attributed to Delvey’s separate Good Morning America answer about her favorite part.
What did Delvey later say about the “Nothing” comment?
In a November 2024 interview with TV Insider, Delvey said, “That’s not what I meant,” when asked about the comment. She explained that she was disappointed because the advice she had received had not led anywhere.
Sosa later described the finale routine set to “I Have Nothing” as a campy spin on the moment, which he thought put it in a good light. His account and Delvey’s later explanation add context, but they do not change the words she used on the elimination broadcast or in the next-day interview.

Why the two remarks are easy to confuse
The answers were close together in time and both concerned Delvey’s exit from the competition. But they answered different questions: “Nothing” was her response to what she would take away from the show; “getting eliminated” was her answer about her favorite part. Keeping that distinction clear also separates the reactions: Inaba criticized the first answer, while Sosa’s farewell emphasized Delvey’s work and resilience.
