Anna Camp recalled hearing an audience member say, “She must be cold,” during the nude scene in the 2008 Broadway revival of Equus. The anecdote was reported by Entertainment Weekly after Camp discussed the experience on the Podcrushed podcast.
What did the audience member say?
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Camp said she could hear audience members talking about the actors’ bodies while she remained still during Daniel Radcliffe’s monologue. Asked to recall a particular remark, she remembered: “She must be cold.”

Camp joked that he must be cold too, that they were all cold, and that the audience should leave them alone. That was her humorous response to the comment, not a separate reported exchange with the patron. The account concerns a recollection of the production; it does not suggest that the remark was typical of every performance.
What was the scene, and who was in it?
In Peter Shaffer’s Equus, Camp played Jill Mason opposite Radcliffe as Alan Strang in the 2008 Broadway revival. Their final scene was a demanding one for Camp. In a 2013 interview with TDF, she called it “the most intense scene I’ve ever done.”

Camp said the scene was rehearsed many times without the actors removing their clothes, followed by a closed rehearsal with Camp, Radcliffe and director Thea Sharrock. She also said performing it in a large, dark theatre felt easier than rehearsing in a small, fluorescent-lit room. Her account focused on the scene’s emotional vulnerability, particularly when the encounter between Jill and Alan goes wrong, rather than on nudity alone.

Entertainment Weekly published the anecdote on May 15, 2025, attributing it to Camp’s appearance on Podcrushed. The remembered comment is therefore a 2025-reported recollection about a 2008 production, not a newly documented incident. The podcast audio was not independently verified here, so the quotation is attributed to Camp as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
