In a recorded update on September 25, 2024, Heart singer Ann Wilson said she had finished chemotherapy and received good test results. She also said she would continue maintenance care, so her words that “the worst is over” did not mean that all treatment had ended.
What Ann Wilson said about finishing treatment
Wilson said she was doing “absolutely fine,” had completed chemotherapy and had received good results. She described maintenance as the next step and said its side effects were reportedly less severe. Her update was reported by People and transcribed by Blabbermouth.
Wilson’s phrase “the worst is over” referred to that September 2024 update. It was not a statement that every phase of care was complete, and it does not establish that she was cured or in remission.
How the treatment update unfolded
- July 2, 2024: Heart postponed its remaining North American tour dates for the year. In a statement accompanying the announcement, Wilson said an operation had removed something that proved cancerous, that the operation was successful, and that her doctors advised preventive chemotherapy and time away from performing for the rest of 2024. The statement was carried by Van Andel Arena.
- September 25, 2024: Wilson said chemotherapy was finished, her results were good and maintenance would continue.
- February 28, 2025: Wilson returned to the stage with Heart, according to a later ABC News report.
- February 2025: In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Wilson said she had completed chemotherapy a few months earlier and was “clear” at that time. That was her account during that interview, not a current medical-status update.
What is—and is not—known about her health
Wilson’s July 2024 statement did not identify the cancer type or stage, and the reporting here does not provide those details. Her return to performing and her earlier description of good results or being “clear” should not be treated as proof of her present status. The available reporting does not establish her current cancer status.
#1 Best Overall
In a June 2026 report, ABC News described Wilson discussing surgery and multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. That report does not say she had a recurrence, nor does it establish her current health status.
