Looking for an Aniwave.to proxy? There is no confirmed official mirror to recommend. 9anime rebranded as Aniwave.to in August 2023, but the Aniwave community announced the service’s shutdown on August 27, 2024 and warned that websites claiming to be Aniwave or 9anime were fake. Old Reddit posts listing proxy domains are historical—not a current directory of safe or official links.
The short answer: no verified Aniwave.to proxy exists
The names Aniwave and 9anime may still appear in search results, but a familiar logo, domain name, or working webpage does not prove that a site is operated by the former service.
After Aniwave’s shutdown announcement, any site presenting itself as an official Aniwave successor, mirror, or proxy should be treated as unverified. That distinction matters: a domain can return a normal webpage—or even an HTTP 200 status—without having any connection to the original operators. Status-checking services can confirm that a server responds, not that the service is authentic or safe. UpdownRadar’s status page, for example, cannot establish ownership or continuity.
The former operators had already warned users about fake 9anime clones when the service was active. After the shutdown, that warning became even more important. Do not treat domains such as aniwave.se, aniwave.is, aniwave.sbs, or similarly named sites as official proxies merely because they use the Aniwave brand.

The 2023 rebrand was reported by TorrentFreak. The later shutdown warning appeared in the Aniwave community announcement. The latter is community-level evidence rather than a currently accessible operator-owned status page, but it is consistent with contemporaneous reporting about the closure of Aniwave during a broader shutdown of piracy sites.
What the r/9anime proxy thread actually tells us
The often-cited November 2023 r/9anime discussion was primarily about regional access failures. Users—particularly users in India—reported that their internet providers appeared to block Aniwave.to and discussed possible workarounds such as:
- Changing DNS settings;
- Using Cloudflare WARP;
- Connecting through a VPN; and
- Trying alleged domains including aniwave.bz and aniwave.ws.
Those comments document user experiences from November 2023. They do not prove that every domain mentioned was official, and they cannot establish that any of those domains remains safe or functional after the August 2024 shutdown.
Copying that old list into a current proxy guide would therefore be misleading. A DNS change, VPN, or WARP connection might sometimes affect whether a live website is reachable, but none can bring back a service that has shut down. They also do not turn an unverified clone into an official Aniwave site.

Why Aniwave-branded clones are risky
The main risk is not simply that a clone may fail to play a video. Unverified streaming copies may use the old brand to encourage visitors to:
- Enter an email address and password;
- Reuse credentials from the former service;
- Accept browser notification permissions;
- Install a supposed mobile application, codec, or browser extension;
- Download a “player,” browser update, or security tool; or
- Enter payment-card information.
These are warning signs, not proof that every particular domain contains malware. No specific Aniwave-branded domain should be called infected without current, credible testing of that exact domain. Independent reputation services can provide useful risk indicators, but they are not definitive forensic findings.
How to handle a suspicious Aniwave copy
If you only opened the page
- Close the tab without downloading anything or interacting with pop-ups.
- Do not allow browser notifications if the page requests them.
- Check your browser’s notification permissions and remove the site if it was allowed.
- Review your downloads folder for files you did not intentionally request.
If you entered a password
- Change that password on the real service where it was used.
- Change it anywhere else you reused it; use a unique password for each account.
- Enable multifactor authentication where available.
- Review recent account activity and sign out of unfamiliar sessions.
If you downloaded an app, extension, or file
- Do not open the file again.
- Uninstall unfamiliar browser extensions and applications.
- Run the security tools already established on your device and install pending operating-system and browser updates.
- Check for unexpected browser redirects, new notification prompts, changed search settings, or unfamiliar startup items.
- If the device continues behaving abnormally, seek help from a qualified technician or your operating system’s established recovery and security tools.
Never provide payment details to a site merely because it uses the Aniwave or 9anime name. The shutdown warning means there is no verified official account or subscription page to trust under that branding.
Legal alternatives for watching anime
If your actual goal is to watch anime rather than find a proxy, use a licensed service and check its catalog in your country. Licensing rights vary by territory, so no replacement necessarily carries every title that was previously available through Aniwave.

Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll describes itself as a global anime service and reports more than 2,000 titles and 15 million subscribers on its corporate information page. It is the most directly relevant licensed alternative for many viewers, but the available shows, dubs, subtitles, plans, and pricing depend on location.

Neither service should be described as a complete replacement for everything Aniwave once carried. The practical approach is to search the title on the licensed services available in your country, or check a legitimate availability guide, before subscribing.

How to evaluate claims about a “working proxy”
Use this checklist whenever a search result claims to be the new Aniwave or 9anime:
- Is there a current announcement from a verifiable official channel? A copied logo or social-media post is not enough.
- Does the claim conflict with the shutdown announcement? If so, treat it as a likely impersonation.
- Does the site request a download, extension, notification permission, or payment? Leave rather than complying.
- Does it ask for an old 9anime or Aniwave password? Do not reuse credentials.
