There is no official cross-anime power scale for Demon Lords. On the evidence available from the anime franchises’ official profiles, Dairokuten and Valvatos belong in the top tier, with Diablo below them on the strength of a different, less directly comparable claim. This is a provisional ranking of anime portrayals and official character statements—not a definitive verdict on every Demon Lord in anime.
How this anime-only ranking works
“Demon Lord” and “Demon King” are titles used differently across anime. They can describe a ruler, a fearsome reputation, or a role assumed by a character; the title itself does not measure combat strength. This list considers only what is established in anime-continuity material and the cited franchises’ official anime profiles. It excludes later manga and light-novel developments.
The order weighs demonstrated combat capability, ability range, survivability, and how specific the official strength claim is. The available official material provides more direct strength descriptions than detailed, comparable fight records, so the tiers are more meaningful than pretending the placements are exact. Promotional profiles establish what a series says about its own characters; they do not create a shared cross-franchise scale.
Ranked tiers
Top tier — Dairokuten and Valvatos
Dairokuten, from The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army Was a Human. The anime’s official character profile calls Dairokuten both “the demon king and the strongest being.” It also credits a single battle with reversing the demons’ unfavorable situation. That is the broadest direct superlative in this group, and the battle description gives it some narrative context. The claim is specific to Dairokuten’s own series, however; it does not establish that she outranks every character in other anime.

- Continuing the storyline based on the hit Playstation game Final Fantasy VII, two years have passed, a mysterious illness is spreading and old enemies are astir. And Cloud, who walked away from the life of a hero to live in solitude, must step forward yet again...
Valvatos, from The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody. The official anime site introduces him as the “strongest ‘Demon King’ Valvatos in history” and describes his reincarnation thousands of years later as Ard Meteor. The key qualification is “in history”: it is a formidable claim about his world and his past, not an explicit cross-series comparison. Dairokuten and Valvatos therefore share the top tier rather than being separated by a certainty the available evidence cannot support.
Next tier — Diablo
Diablo, from How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord. The official profile for Ω describes his power as “truly the strongest” and notes his command of many spells learned in the game Cross Reverie. The first-season profile identifies him as a maximum-level player feared as a Demon Lord in that game. Those details support a powerful, versatile combatant, but his Demon Lord identity differs from that of a conventional demon monarch: he is a player summoned in his game appearance and performs that role. Because the superlative and the role are framed around his series and game persona, they do not clearly outrank the top tier’s claims.

Why other familiar names are not placed here
The official That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime portal identifies Rimuru Tempest, Milim, Guy, and other characters, but a roster is not a power ranking. Without a source establishing the specific comparisons—or comparable anime fight evidence—assigning those characters positions here would turn name recognition into unsupported certainty. This is an illustrative ranking, not an exhaustive list of every anime character called a Demon Lord or Demon King.

Cross-series matchups remain debatable because each story sets its own rules, opponents, and limits. A stronger comparison would need to weigh:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Direct fight outcomes and the strength of the opponents defeated.
- Ability breadth, counters, and demonstrated limits—not just a general claim of being powerful.
- Durability, regeneration, and the ability to recover or continue fighting.
- Whether the evidence is an on-screen anime feat or a broad official profile statement.
For now, the defensible takeaway is a shared top tier for Dairokuten and Valvatos, followed by Diablo, with the ranking understood as an editorial reading of anime-specific evidence rather than an official universal order.
