Anime Piracy Domains Targeted in 2026 Industry Submission to U.S. Trade Representative

An industry submission to the U.S. Trade Representative reports domain-level anti-piracy actions, but does not verify a list of targeted anime sites or their current status.

The headline refers to an industry submission to the U.S. government, not a report written by the government. In comments filed with the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA) says more than 400 piracy domains have been wiped from the internet. The submission highlights anime and manga piracy, but the available evidence does not identify a verified list of the anime sites supposedly targeted or establish their current status.

What the “U.S. government report” actually is

The source behind the headline is the IIPA’s 2026 Special 301 comments to the USTR, submitted on January 28, 2026. It is an industry submission to the U.S. government—not a report authored by the U.S. government. The distinction matters: the document presents the views and claims of rights holders represented by the IIPA.

The IIPA describes anime and manga as prominent piracy categories among leading pirate sites. That context supports the connection to anime, but it does not by itself show which individual anime services were targeted.

What “more than 400 domains wiped” means

The IIPA states: “To date, more than 400 piracy domains have been completely wiped from the Internet, representing billions of global piracy visits.” This is the IIPA’s reported figure; it is not an independently verified count in the material available here. It refers to domains, not 400 distinct anime services, operators, or permanently dismantled businesses.

A domain is an internet address. Enforcement against one address does not establish that an operator has disappeared, that its service has stopped operating, or that mirror domains are unavailable. The figure should therefore be read as a claim about domain-level enforcement, not proof of a global shutdown of 400 pirate sites.

How the cited India enforcement works

The IIPA points to enforcement in India, where court orders can require domain registrars to lock or suspend domains associated with infringement and disclose registrant information. TorrentFreak’s February 3, 2026 report describes the orders as part of a broader effort against pirate domains. These measures can disrupt access through a particular domain; they do not, on their own, prove permanent removal of a service or every mirror.

Rank #2

The IIPA says rights holders are encouraged by the Delhi High Court’s approach to modern piracy technologies and its willingness to grant what it calls “creative relief.” That is the IIPA’s characterization of the court’s enforcement approach, not a finding that all affected sites have been permanently closed.

Which anime streaming sites were targeted?

The evidence available for this story does not establish the exact list of anime sites suggested by the headline. The CBR headline appears in search results, but its article could not be retrieved for verification. The IIPA material and secondary reporting cited here do not supply a fully verifiable top-ten list or reliable site-by-site status updates.

As a result, naming services as targets—or saying they are currently down—would go beyond what these sources support. Domain status can change, and a suspension of one address is not confirmation that every route to a service has disappeared.

What readers can conclude

  • The underlying document is the IIPA’s 2026 industry submission to the USTR, not a U.S. government-authored report.
  • The IIPA reports that more than 400 piracy domains have been wiped; that figure is attributed to the organization and does not mean 400 anime services were permanently shut down.
  • The enforcement example concerns registrar actions under Indian court orders, which can affect domains without proving an operator or its mirrors are gone.
  • Anime and manga are identified as significant piracy categories, but the evidence here does not verify a list of targeted anime sites or their current availability.
