Why was it called his first royal event since losing his titles?
The description refers to the timing: the christening was reported as his first royal-palace visit or royal event since the changes to his titles and honours. “Royal event” is journalistic shorthand here. The event itself was reported as a private family christening, not a formal public appearance or an official engagement.
