At D23 2024, Lucasfilm showed an Andor Season 2 sizzle to attendees in the room only. The footage confirmed the return of Orson Krennic, played by Ben Mendelsohn, and K-2SO, played by Alan Tudyk. The event announcement gave the season a 2025 premiere window; Disney later set its launch for April 23, 2025.
Was the Andor Season 2 teaser shown at D23 released publicly?
No. StarWars.com’s August 12, 2024 report on the event said the sizzle was “shown in-room only.” It was a presentation for attendees, not a publicly released trailer. The report said the footage visually confirmed Krennic and K-2SO would return.
Diego Luna, the series star and an executive producer, appeared at the Disney Studio Showcase. Discussing the season, he said: “The stakes are greater, the enemies more organized, and the clock is ticking.”
Which returning characters did the footage confirm?
Orson Krennic
Ben Mendelsohn returns as Imperial Director Orson Krennic, the character he played in Rogue One. The D23 report described his return as one of the details attendees could see in the sizzle.

K-2SO
Alan Tudyk returns as the Imperial security droid who becomes an ally of the Rebellion. His presence connects the series more directly to Rogue One, though Tony Gilroy has discussed the storytelling challenge of bringing the character into the series. In a later StarWars.com interview, the creator and executive producer said: “I had to wait for K2. He’s just not good for storytelling – it’s really hard to take him around and do anything with him.”
Gilroy also praised the actors and characters in that interview: “K-2SO and Krennic are not just iconic characters, they’re also both just great to work with.”

What did D23 say about the story?
The event preview pointed to a larger, galaxy-spanning story, with the season driving toward the birth of the Rebel Alliance and the beginning of Rogue One. Disney’s later D23 Brazil announcement described the story as spanning the climactic four years leading to the discovery of the Death Star and the events of the film.
Gilroy later described Season 2 as the conclusion of Andor, leading directly into Rogue One. Disney’s February 2025 press release quoted him: “Cassian’s journey is the soul and spine of our story, but it’s the choir that makes the show.”
