The Television Academy’s records place it among a strong group of genre-associated contenders, though “genre-heavy” is an editorial description—not an official Academy label.
How many Emmy nominations did Andor get?
Andor received 14 nominations in the 2025 Emmy cycle. The Television Academy’s nomination history confirms that annual total; StarWars.com’s announcement identifies the Disney+ and Lucasfilm Ltd. series and lists its nominated categories. StarWars.com’s July 15 announcement and the Television Academy’s 2025 nomination history are the primary records.
The 14 nominations span the show’s central program and performance recognition as well as the work behind its design, cinematography, costumes, editing, sound and music. That breadth is part of what makes the total notable: it recognizes contributions across the production, not just its cast or its place in the drama field.
Which Emmys was Andor nominated for?
The nominations covered drama, acting and a wide range of craft categories. Among the named nominees and credits in StarWars.com’s list:
- Outstanding Drama Series, recognizing the series as a whole.
- Directing: Janus Metz for “Who Are You?”
- Guest acting: Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera.
- Character voice-over: Alan Tudyk as K-2SO.
- Production design, cinematography and costumes: Luke Hull, Christophe Nuyens and Michael Wilkinson were among the credited contributors.
- Editing and score: Yan Miles and Brandon Roberts were named for their work.
- Original music and lyrics: “We are the Ghor (Planetary Anthem),” credited to Nicholas Britell and Tony Gilroy.
The complete category wording and nominee credits are in the official StarWars.com announcement and the Academy’s nomination history.

| Program | 2025 nominations | Program category context |
|---|---|---|
| Severance | 27 | Drama Series |
| The Penguin | 24 | Limited or anthology series field |
| The White Lotus | 23 | Drama Series |
| The Last of Us | 16 | Drama Series |
| Andor | 14 | Drama Series |
These are nominations in the 2025 cycle, not a ranking of quality, popularity or eventual wins. Category context matters: the Academy’s drama field included Andor, Severance, The Last of Us and The White Lotus, while The Penguin and Black Mirror were among the programs in the limited or anthology series landscape. The counts make the “genre-heavy” framing understandable, but do not establish an official Academy classification of the year as genre-focused. See the Academy’s 2025 nomination history for the underlying totals and program categories.
Was this Andor’s first Outstanding Drama Series nomination?
No. The Academy’s history records Andor as an Outstanding Drama Series nominee in 2023 as well as 2025. Its record through the 2025 nomination cycle lists 22 nominations and zero wins. That is a nomination-history total through that cycle; it should not be mistaken for a statement about results at a later ceremony.

What did Tony Gilroy say about the nominations?
Creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy described the recognition as shared across the production. “I’m really proud,” he told StarWars.com. “This is substantial work and a substantial amount of people’s lives went into this. And I really view all these awards as community property on this show.”
Gilroy also said he hoped the nominations would bring more viewers to the series, including people who might not initially think it was for them. Both remarks appear in StarWars.com’s announcement.
