When did And Just Like That end?
The finale was split across two weekly installments: the first aired August 7, 2025, and the second—and final episode—aired August 14. Warner Bros. Discovery had announced that season 3 would debut on Max in the United States on May 29, 2025, with episodes released weekly on Thursdays. These are the original US release dates; availability and streaming-service branding may differ by territory and over time.

The series-ending news came earlier, on August 1, 2025, while the season was still airing. TheWrap reported that showrunner Michael Patrick King and Sarah Jessica Parker said they had held the announcement back because they did not want the word “final” to overshadow viewers’ enjoyment of the season.
Why did the series end?
King said the ending became clear as he wrote the final episode. In a statement reproduced by TVLine, he said: “While I was writing the last episode of ‘And Just Like That…’ season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.” King, Parker, HBO/HBO Max chief Casey Bloys, and content head Sarah Aubrey decided to end the series that year.

That is the explanation the showrunner gave for the decision. The announcement did not establish ratings or corporate strategy as causes, so claims that the series ended for either reason go beyond what was confirmed.
How many episodes were in the final season?
Season 3 had 12 episodes. King’s statement, as reported by TVLine, said the original 10-episode order was extended to 12 to make room for the two-part finale. The two finale installments were part of that season count, not two additional episodes.

What the series followed
The sequel continued the story of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte—alongside Seema and LTW—as they navigated life, love, sex, and friendship in their 50s in New York City. It followed the original Sex and the City into a later stage of its characters’ lives.
