Is And Just Like That ending after season 3?
Yes. Warner Bros. Discovery announced on August 1, 2025, that the sequel to Sex and the City would conclude with its third season. The final episode aired August 14, 2025. The Associated Press also reported the series had ended after season three: Associated Press.

When was the series finale?
The finale was a two-part ending, with episodes airing August 7 and August 14, 2025. The Los Angeles Times reported that the season had initially been ordered for 10 episodes and was extended to 12, creating the two-part finale: Los Angeles Times. Warner Bros. Discovery’s season-three announcement had listed a 12-episode season, set to debut May 29 and conclude August 14: Max season-three announcement.
Why did And Just Like That end?
King, the show’s showrunner, writer and director, gave a creative explanation. He said: “While I was writing the last episode of ‘And Just Like That …’ Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.” He also said he and Sarah Jessica Parker delayed the announcement so that the word “final” would not overshadow the pleasure of watching the season. Both comments were reported by the Los Angeles Times: King’s explanation.

That is the public rationale from the creative team, not proof that a network made no business considerations. The reporting cited here does not establish that the show ended because of ratings or financial performance. The Washington Post described the announcement as abrupt, but that is the outlet’s characterization, not a disclosed explanation from HBO or Max: Washington Post coverage.
Was the final season divisive?
Reviews and commentary reflected sharply different critical responses. The Associated Press described the sequel’s reviews as mixed, while the Los Angeles Times discussed criticism focused on Samantha’s absence, new characters and perceived changes to the original characters. Warner Bros. Discovery announced a third-season renewal on August 22, 2023. At the time, Max content head Sarah Aubrey said the series ranked first among Max originals overall since season two launched and was the service’s most-watched returning original to that date: Max renewal announcement. That was a promotional claim about season-two performance in 2023; it is not season-three audience data and does not explain why the series ended in 2025.
