Ana de Armas leads From the World of John Wick: Ballerina as Eve Macarro, a young woman trained in the Ruska Roma’s assassin traditions who sets out to avenge her father’s death. The official trailer places her story during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum; the film’s FAQ locates it between Chapters 3 and 4.
What the Ballerina trailer is about
The trailer introduces Eve Macarro as a ballerina who enters the world of professional assassins. Official film material says she is trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma and pursues revenge for her father’s murder. The premise connects her personal vendetta to the secretive underworld familiar from the John Wick films.
In a promotional interview published June 2, 2025, de Armas described the experience for viewers as: “Just get a lot of popcorn and get ready for a wild ride.”
Where it fits in the John Wick timeline
Ballerina is a spin-off set within the John Wick universe, not a sequel set after the fourth film. The official trailer description says its events occur during John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, while the official FAQ more specifically places the story between Chapters 3 and 4. Those descriptions establish its franchise chronology without making it a retelling of either film.

Cast and filmmakers
De Armas plays Eve. The official cast list also includes Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane and Keanu Reeves. Len Wiseman directed, and Shay Hatten wrote the film.
Chad Stahelski, producer of Ballerina and director of the four John Wick films, praised de Armas’s ability to combine charm, love and humor with a convincing assassin’s intensity. He said he did not want an action hero with a “stoic, superhero vibe where everything’s going to be OK.” That is Stahelski’s view of the performance, rather than a description of the film’s entire tone.
