Amouranth, whose name is Kaitlyn Siragusa, said armed intruders demanded cryptocurrency during a March 2, 2025 home invasion in Houston. In a post written during the incident, she said she believed she had shot one of them. That statement is her account; the available reporting does not establish who fired or whether anyone was hit.
What Amouranth said happened
On March 2, 2025, Amouranth posted that she was being robbed at gunpoint at her Houston home. A minute later, she wrote: “I believe I shot one of them they wanted crypto is what they were yelling they pulled me out of bed.” MySA reported that the Houston Police Officers’ Union described her as pistol-whipped by intruders seeking cryptocurrency and said she was safe, injured and hospitalized. MySA’s March 4 report and its account of her posts document the contemporaneous claims.
The phrase “I believe I shot one of them” is important: it records what Amouranth said she thought had happened, not a confirmed account of who fired. The reporting does not settle the sequence of shots, how many people fired, or whether an intruder was struck.
What the surveillance footage does—and does not—show
MySA later described surveillance footage shared by Amouranth as showing people entering the home, at least two gunshots, and people running out. She alleged that three armed people entered and beat her before the footage began, and she also posted photographs of damage to a door. MySA’s coverage of the footage does not establish everything that happened outside the camera’s view or identify who fired the shots.

Why she posted online instead of calling
Amouranth later explained that she posted on X rather than calling emergency services because she believed a call could get her killed. Forbes reproduced her account: “Was at gun point they gave me phone and said log in with gun to my head and I tweeted because calling would be a death sentence.” This is her stated explanation, not an independently verified account of what options she had at the time. Forbes’ report includes the explanation.
What is known about the crypto demand and reported balance
Amouranth said the intruders were yelling that they wanted crypto. MySA also reported that a prior post included a screenshot purporting to show more than $20 million in Bitcoin and nearly $80,000 in Ethereum. The screenshot figures were reported, not independently authenticated: the coverage does not verify the balances or account ownership, and it does not establish that the screenshot caused the robbery or prove the intruders’ motive. MySA’s account of the screenshot describes it as a displayed claim, not verified financial information.
