Tyra Banks remained the show’s central host and judge, while familiar figures including Nigel Barker, Miss J. Alexander and Jay Manuel became closely associated with it in different capacities. In 2026, several of them revisited the series in Netflix’s three-episode documentary Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.
How the judging panel changed
The familiar ANTM names did not all serve together for the entire series. Some were judges, others coached or led the creative work, and early cycles featured additional panelists. The roles and cycle ranges below are those recorded in a scholarly overview published around 2012; they describe the early history rather than a complete roster for cycles 10 through 24. Marshall University’s overview identifies:
- Tyra Banks: creator, host and judge.
- Janice Dickinson: judge in cycles 1–4, with occasional guest appearances afterward noted in the overview.
- Nigel Barker: joined as a judge in cycle 2.
- Miss J. Alexander: runway coach from the first season and a judge from cycle 5.
- Twiggy: judge in cycles 5–9.
- Nolé Marin: judge in cycles 3–4.
- Eric Nicholson: judge in cycle 2.
- Beau Quillian and Kimora Lee Simmons: judges in cycle 1.
Jay Manuel was also a major on-camera presence as creative director and appeared as an occasional guest judge. That distinction matters: a familiar face in the judging room was not necessarily a permanent judge.
The best-known judges and what they are doing now
Tyra Banks
Banks was the show’s creator, host, executive producer and central judge. She later hosted Dancing With the Stars from 2020 to 2023, according to Marie Claire’s February 2026 update. That report says Banks said at the end of Reality Check that she was working to bring ANTM back for Cycle 25. It establishes a reported effort—not a confirmed production, premiere date, platform or judging roster.

Miss J. Alexander
Alexander began on ANTM as a runway coach and later became a judge. Marie Claire reports that Alexander continued teaching design at Savannah College of Art and Design after leaving the show in 2012. In an interview connected with the Netflix documentary, Alexander discussed recovery from a stroke suffered in 2022, saying: “Fine. Healing and dealing. I’m good at what I did—do and did—which is teaching models how to inky slink down the runway.” Marie Claire reports that Alexander uses both he/his and she/her pronouns.
Jay Manuel
Manuel served as ANTM’s creative director and sometimes appeared as a guest judge. In 2020 he published the satirical novel The Wig, The Bitch & The Meltdown, which Marie Claire describes as inspired by his experience on the series. Asked in an interview connected with the documentary whether he and Banks had reconnected after filming, Manuel said: “We shot this a year ago. Do you think my phone rang? No. And I don’t think it’s going to.”

What the 2026 Netflix documentary does—and does not—show
Netflix’s official listing describes Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model as a three-episode 2026 documentary series. Its listed cast includes Banks, Manuel, Alexander and Barker. The episode summaries frame a retrospective on the show’s original ambitions, its turn toward spectacle and controversy, and the end of the ANTM era.
The documentary brings several familiar figures back to the subject, but that is not evidence that the original panel has reunited in person or that any of them will judge a future competition. Nor does the cast list establish that every former judge or contestant took part.
