What winning streak did Abi Carter break?
The streak was four consecutive male winners, not a run of victories by one contestant. Carter was the first woman to win in four seasons, following the winners of Seasons 18 through 21:
- Season 18: Just Sam
- Season 19: Chayce Beckham
- Season 20: Noah Thompson
- Season 21: Iam Tongi
ABC News’ winners list identifies the four-season sequence and Carter’s place at its end.

What did Abi Carter sing in the finale?
California State University, San Bernardino, where Carter is an alumna, reported that her finale performances included Bon Jovi’s “Bed of Roses,” “Somewhere” from West Side Story and her original song “This Isn’t Over.” The university also reported that she auditioned with Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” and earned a Platinum ticket, which allowed her to skip the first round of Hollywood Week. Those audition details come from the university’s account, while ABC7 reported the finale’s contestant progression and result.
During the finale, Bon Jovi mentored the finalists. The broadcast also featured performers including Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino, Nick Fradiani, Jason Mraz, New Kids on the Block, Hootie & The Blowfish, CeCe Winans, Wynonna Judd, James Bay, Cody Johnson, Seal and Bishop Briggs, according to ABC7.

What did ABC report about the finale audience?
ABC Entertainment’s May 23, 2024 ratings release reported these figures for the May 19 finale:
- 5.64 million viewers: Live + Same Day total viewers.
- 0.65 rating: Adults 18–49, Live + Same Day.
- 2.1 million social interactions: ABC cited Talkwalker for this finale figure and said it was 101% above the show’s Season 7 average.
The social figure is a count of interactions, not unique people. ABC said its social measure covered linear episode-level interactions for primetime entertainment shows and excluded sports and wrestling; it is not a multiplatform audience total. See the ABC Entertainment ratings release for the measurement context.

What did Carter say after winning?
After the result, Carter told ABC7, “It doesn’t feel real,” adding that despite receiving “this amazing title,” she still felt like herself. In an ABC News interview, she also recalled what judge Luke Bryan told her after the finale: “After the finale, he said that he thinks it was the very first time that the person they thought was going to win actually did.” That is Carter recounting Bryan’s comment, not a direct quotation from Bryan in the report.
