In a May 2021 interview, Amber Stevens West praised Run the World for portraying supportive friendships among Black women and recalled how she met her husband, Andrew J. West, while working on Greek. Her comments connect the two shows through the people and relationships behind them.
What Amber Stevens West said about Run the World
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight’s Mekishana Pierre, West described Run the World as an ensemble series that lets viewers follow four women across their careers, romantic relationships and friendships. She said the show reflected contemporary culture and put supportive friendship at the center rather than treating women’s success as a competition for limited space.

“You can have it all, and you can have supportive friends who show up for you, there’s space for all of us to thrive. That is the reality, and so we’re just showing that in this show.”
West’s point was not that the characters’ lives are identical or free of conflict; it was that friendship can make room for each woman to thrive. She acknowledged familiar ensemble-show formats while describing Run the World as reflecting its own moment and foregrounding that solidarity.

How she met Andrew J. West on Greek
West also recalled that Andrew J. West was being considered for roles on two ABC Family shows around the same time. The network cast him as Fisher on Greek, rather than placing him on the other show. West connected that casting choice to the relationship that followed: she and Andrew met through their work on Greek.
