What the family announced
A message posted on Erika Slezak’s official website said: “It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Erika’s daughter Amanda Elizabeth Davies, who died very suddenly. The family is heartbroken and would appreciate privacy at this time.” TVLine and TV Insider reproduced the message and reported Davies was 42.
Reports from E! News and Soap Opera Network also said no further details, including a cause of death, had been released. “Died very suddenly” describes the reported circumstances but does not identify a medical or other cause. The January 2024 publication dates of those reports do not establish when Davies died.
Who was Amanda Elizabeth Davies?
Davies had a small acting connection to the daytime drama that made her mother famous. In 2003, she played the teenage version of Victoria “Viki” Lord in flashback scenes on One Life to Live.

The series and the character her mother made famous
One Life to Live aired on ABC from 1968 until the network canceled it in 2012. A short web-series revival followed in 2013. Viki Lord was one of the program’s central characters, and Slezak’s multi-decade performance became one of daytime television’s defining portrayals.

Tributes and public response
Frank Valentini, who served as an executive producer of One Life to Live, expressed his condolences in a statement reported through Yahoo Entertainment’s syndicated coverage of a People report. He recalled watching Amanda Slezak grow up during his time at the show and wrote that Erika’s role as “mom” was her most important, adding that he was saddened by the loss and extending his sympathy to the family and their friends.
