Allison Mack discussed her role in NXIVM in Allison after NXIVM, a seven-episode CBC Uncover podcast hosted by Natalie Robehmed. ABC News reported on November 11, 2025, that the series includes Mack’s first reported interview about NXIVM since her release from prison. Mack described herself as both intent on helping people and someone who abused her power; her retrospective account is distinct from victims’ experiences and the established legal record.
What Mack said in the interview
ABC News reporter Angeline Jane Bernabe quoted Mack in the podcast’s seventh episode acknowledging her conduct within NXIVM. Mack said, “I definitely recognize and admit that I was abusing my power and that I was mean and I was forceful.” She also described what she saw at the time as a desire to help: “there was a part of me that was altruistic and was desperate to help people.” These are selected remarks reported by ABC, not a full transcript or a complete account of the series.

ABC also quoted Mack saying, “I was trying to heal sexual trauma,” before acknowledging that she became “someone who was supporting it.” Regarding her family’s presence at her sentencing, she said: “That was hard. I don’t see myself as innocent and they were.” These statements offer Mack’s retrospective view; they do not replace testimony from people harmed by NXIVM or the findings in court.
How Mack said she entered NXIVM
According to ABC’s account, Mack said enthusiasm from her Smallville co-star Kristin Kreuk about a course influenced her to join NXIVM. ABC also reported Kreuk’s statement that she left the organization in 2013 and her denial that she recruited women as sex slaves. The reporting does not establish wrongdoing by Kreuk.

What happened in the NXIVM case
The legal record developed in stages. The Justice Department’s 2018 charging announcement described allegations, not findings of guilt, and explicitly said defendants were presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Later court outcomes established Raniere’s guilt and recorded Mack’s guilty plea.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| April 20, 2018 | The Justice Department announced that Mack and Keith Raniere had been charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy. These were allegations at that stage. DOJ charging announcement. |
| April 8, 2019 | Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy, as recorded in the Justice Department’s later sentencing release. DOJ sentencing release. |
| June 2019 | A federal jury convicted Raniere of racketeering and related offenses, according to the Justice Department’s 2020 release. |
| October 27, 2020 | Raniere was sentenced to 120 years in prison and fined $1.75 million. The Justice Department’s release also recorded victim impact statements from 15 people. |
| July 2021 | ABC reported that Mack was sentenced to three years in prison and fined $20,000. |
| 2023 | ABC reported that Mack was released early after serving 21 months. |
| November 11, 2025 | ABC reported Mack’s interview in connection with CBC Uncover’s seven-episode series. |
The Justice Department’s 2020 account describes DOS as a women-only mentorship group in which recruits were required to provide “collateral,” and places Raniere at the top of the group. That is the government’s account in its sentencing release. In the same release, then Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Seth D. DuCharme said: “The 120-year sentence imposed on Keith Raniere today is a measure of his appalling crimes committed over a decade.”

How to distinguish the interview from the court record
- Mack’s account: Her comments describe how she now characterizes her intentions and actions. They are not a substitute for the experiences of victims.
- ABC’s reporting: The November 11, 2025 article quotes selected remarks from episode seven and summarizes other material. The complete interview transcript is not available in the cited reporting, so the selected remarks should not be treated as the series’ entire position.
- Official case record: The 2018 DOJ announcement concerns charges and allegations; Mack’s 2019 plea and Raniere’s 2019 conviction and 2020 sentence reflect later legal outcomes.
ABC News’ report is available at “Allison Mack addresses her NXIVM past for 1st time since prison release.” CBC Uncover’s series is titled Allison after NXIVM.
