For a first watch, follow theatrical release order within each Spider-Man continuity: Sam Raimi’s trilogy, Marc Webb’s two films, Tom Holland’s MCU solo films, then the Miles Morales animated films. These are separate storylines, not one continuous timeline.
What order should I watch the Spider-Man movies in?
This core list covers theatrical feature films centered on a Spider-Man lead. The numbers show release order across the groups; watch each group in the sequence shown.
Sam Raimi’s trilogy
- Spider-Man (2002)
- Spider-Man 2 (2004)
- Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Sony describes the 2002 film as the start of Sam Raimi’s trilogy and identifies the 2004 and 2007 films as its sequels. The three films share one Peter Parker continuity. Sony Pictures
Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man films
- The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
- The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
This is a separate continuity from Raimi’s trilogy. Sony describes the first film as a reimagining and the 2014 sequel as the second and final film in the series. Sony Pictures

Homecoming is Holland’s first solo Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), following Peter’s introduction in Captain America: Civil War. Far From Home follows Avengers: Endgame; No Way Home continues directly from it and brings characters from earlier Spider-Man film franchises into Holland’s story. Do I need to watch the Avengers movies before Spider-Man?
No. The Holland solo films make a clear sequence on their own. For more MCU context, add Captain America: Civil War before Homecoming, then Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame before Far From Home. These are ensemble films, not Spider-Man solo entries. A fully chronological MCU watch therefore adds crossover films beyond this Spider-Man-led list. The Raimi and Webb movies do not need MCU films to follow their stories.
Are the Spider-Verse movies connected to the live-action films?
The two animated Miles Morales films form their own connected story, beginning with Into the Spider-Verse and continuing in Across the Spider-Verse. They are not required viewing for the Raimi, Webb, or Holland solo-film sequences. No Way Home is the point where characters from earlier Spider-Man film franchises meet the Holland-led story; that crossover does not make every Spider-Man film one continuous timeline. Sony Pictures

What counts as a Spider-Man movie?
This order is deliberately limited to theatrical feature films centered on a Spider-Man lead. It does not include every MCU ensemble appearance, television production, or Sony’s villain-led spin-offs such as Venom and Madame Web. Those are optional additions, not films needed to follow the Spider-Man-led stories.
The MCU films are part of a Sony–Marvel Studios collaboration. In its 2015 announcement, Sony said it retained financing, distribution, ownership, and final creative control of its Spider-Man films under that agreement. Sony Pictures
