In a 2023 People interview conducted around the ceremony, Zac similarly said, “My mom and dad, they’re the reason I’m here today,” before describing the audition trips and their continuing support. People’s report, reproduced by Yahoo Entertainment, provides additional coverage of those remarks.
Zac has also described distinct influences from each parent. In a 2016 interview with Elle, quoted by AOL, he said, “My parents love me in very different ways,” and added, “But they checked every box. My dad always taught me to be driven.” The same account recalls David building a basketball hoop and practicing free throws with him.
