Why Disney’s figure is $351 million
The Walt Disney Company described the film as a $351 million global grosser in its 2024 year-end box-office retrospective. That is a rounded version of Box Office Mojo’s more precise $350,865,342 total, rather than a conflicting tally. Disney’s retrospective is available in its 2024 box-office overview.

#1 Best Overall
- This truly terrifying sci-fi horror-thriller takes the legendary ?Alien? franchise back to its iconic roots. While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young colonizers come face-to-face with the deadliest life form in the universe. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
What the milestone does—and does not—say about profit
The Numbers lists the film’s production budget as $80 million. Dividing the reported worldwide gross by that budget gives a rough gross-to-budget ratio of about 4.4 to 1. It is not a profit calculation: theatrical gross is not studio net receipts, and the ratio does not account for marketing, distribution costs, the share retained by cinemas, or other revenue and expenses. The budget listing is on The Numbers’ film page.
