Alice Cooper’s original group reunited for The Revenge of Alice Cooper, released July 25, 2025. Alongside Cooper, the surviving original members Michael Bruce, Dennis Dunaway and Neal Smith returned for the band’s first new studio album together in more than 50 years. Guitarist Glen Buxton, who died in 1997, is heard through an archival guitar part on one track.
Who is back in the original Alice Cooper band?
The reunion brings Alice Cooper together with three surviving members of the original group: guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith. The original lineup also included guitarist Glen Buxton, who died in 1997. A preserved Buxton guitar part appears on “What Happened To You”; it came from an unreleased recording, rather than from the 2025 sessions. GRAMMY.com’s interview and lineup context and Cooper’s official announcement describe the lineup and archival contribution.

What is the reunion album called, and when did it come out?
The album is The Revenge of Alice Cooper, released by earMUSIC on July 25, 2025. The original group’s previous studio album was Muscle of Love, released in 1973. The “51 years” wording appeared in the April 2025 announcement; by the July release, roughly 52 years had passed since that predecessor. The claim is about the first new studio album in over 50 years—not the first time the musicians had performed or worked together since the 1970s. GRAMMY.com identifies the predecessor, while Rolling Stone Australia reports on the album details.
How did the band approach recording it?
Cooper said the group wanted the album to feel like a live performance in the studio, rather than a heavily layered production. In a GRAMMY.com interview, he said: “We especially wanted it to be live in the studio. I didn’t want it to be layered. I didn’t want it to be produced like School’s Out or Billion Dollar Babies.” He added that the musicians still played well live and that he wanted them to write and record the songs together.

Dunaway described the sessions as “a full collaboration,” with the musicians listening to suggestions and deciding together which ideas to use. Producer Bob Ezrin recalled that conversations about the project began while they were working on Detroit Stories in February 2021. Those details come from interview recollections published in Goldmine excerpts republished on Cooper’s official site.

The first single was “Black Mamba,” featuring Robby Krieger of The Doors. GRAMMY.com also highlights “Wild Ones” and “Blood On The Sun.” Cooper described the record as a continuation of the group’s 1973 album while emphasizing the band’s live-in-the-studio approach. The official announcement names the first single and Krieger’s contribution; GRAMMY.com discusses the highlighted tracks and recording concept.
