Alanis Morissette revisited “Ironic” with James Corden in a 2015 performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, swapping the song’s familiar situations for references to phones, apps and online services. It was a topical television update of the existing song—not a new original track.
What the 2015 performance changed
Morissette and Corden used “Ironic” as the framework for technology-era lyrics. Contemporary coverage cited references to Facebook, a new iPhone, Snapchat, Twitter, Waze, Amazon, Netflix, Uber and Tinder. These names served as jokes in the performance; their appearance in the lyrics is not an endorsement or recommendation.
E! Online reported on November 10, 2015, that Morissette performed the update with Corden on The Late Late Show. Phandroid’s November 11, 2015 coverage described it as a smartphone-era remake and highlighted several of the technology references.
How it relates to the original “Ironic”
The original recording appears on Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill. Shazam lists the track’s release date as June 13, 1995, its label as Rhino/Warner Records, and Alanis Morissette and Glen Ballard as composers. The 2015 television performance revisited that song through contemporary references rather than replacing the original recording.

The contemporary reports identify the performers, program and general premise of the update. The title’s “[VIDEO]” label should therefore not be taken as a guarantee that a specific video link is currently accessible.
