Rather than inventing seven entries or presenting a fan ranking as WWE’s, this guide highlights the three documented examples and explains what makes each one stand out. WWE’s official video, “AJ Styles’ best Styles Clashes: WWE Top 10,” was published Aug. 7, 2022; its listing names Roman Reigns and Dolph Ziggler among the opponents.
What makes a Styles Clash finish memorable?
A Styles Clash can matter for more than its impact: the setup, match stakes and whether it actually ends the contest all shape the moment. The examples below are limited to details documented in official WWE material. They are not a reconstructed version of WWE’s ten-item countdown, whose complete entries and order are not established here.
- Stakes: A championship victory gives the finish a concrete consequence.
- Setup: A counter or an opportunistic opening can make the move feel tied to the match’s story.
- Result: A reported match-ending pin is different from a highlight that shows the move but does not establish that it finished the match.
Three documented AJ Styles Styles Clash moments
1. Ricochet — Extreme Rules, July 14, 2019
WWE’s Extreme Rules report describes Styles hitting a “Super Styles Clash” to defeat Ricochet and win the United States Championship. The Club had helped create an opening. The title change makes this the clearest high-stakes finish among the documented examples, while the interference is part of the finish’s context rather than a detail to separate from it.
2. Dolph Ziggler — SmackDown, Aug. 23, 2016
In WWE’s report on the Aug. 23, 2016 SmackDown match, Styles beats Ziggler with the Styles Clash after an opportunistic low blow assisted by the middle rope. That account gives the finish a tactical, underhanded edge: the decisive move follows Styles exploiting an opening while the referee is unaware.

3. Mustafa Ali — a counter using 450 Splash momentum
WWE’s highlight shows Styles using the momentum of Ali’s 450 Splash to hit the Styles Clash. The counter is the distinctive element. The highlight page does not state the match date or establish that the move ended the match, so it belongs here as a documented Styles Clash moment—not a confirmed match-winning finish.
Where to watch the official footage
Start with WWE’s official Top 10 video for the compilation. WWE’s AJ Styles profile identifies the Styles Clash as one of his signature moves, alongside the Phenomenal Forearm and Calf Crusher, and lists viewing prompts for WWE Network, Netflix, Sony LIV and Flow. Which services carry the footage depends on your market; check local availability. For Styles’ TNA-era matches, TNA’s tribute points viewers to TNA+ and YouTube.
Rank #2
- WWE action figures bring fan-favorite Superstars to life in 6-inch scale!
- Each figure is detailed with TrueFX technology for life-like faces and added collectability!
- Fans can recreate signature moves with 10 points of articulation for dynamic posing!
- Reenact favorite WWE matches or create new rivalries and moves for play and display!
- WWE fans can find their favorite Superstar figure or can collect them all (each sold separately, subject to availability).
The three examples above offer different reasons a Styles Clash can stick with viewers: a championship won, a finish shaped by an opportunistic opening, and a counter built from an opponent’s aerial attack. They do not amount to ten verified finishes, and the official countdown should not be treated as matched by this shorter, sourced selection.
