AJ Mendez, known to wrestling fans as AJ Lee, shared photos from a recent shoot in June 2023 and captioned the post “retired athlete,” according to Wrestling Inc. The outlet described her appearance in the images, but “jacked” is a subjective impression—not a measured fitness result. The photos are historical, not a new 2026 update, and they do not establish a wrestling comeback.
What AJ Lee’s Instagram photos showed
Wrestling Inc. reported on June 23, 2023, that Mendez had shared photos from a recent shoot. Its account characterized her physique as notably muscular, but the available report provides no body measurements, quantified fitness results, or independent assessment. The description “jacked” belongs to headline-style commentary, not a verified statistic.
The original Instagram post was not independently inspected for this account; the reported caption comes from Wrestling Inc. The outlet said Mendez captioned the photos “retired athlete.”
Why the photos do not establish a return to wrestling
A photograph can show how someone looked at a particular moment; it cannot establish their career intentions. Nothing in the reported images demonstrates a comeback plan. The reported “retired athlete” caption, meanwhile, frames the post around retirement rather than announcing a return.

AJ Lee’s retirement and wrestling background
Wrestling Inc. reported that Mendez retired from wrestling in April 2015 and cited permanent cervical-spine damage as a reason she stepped away. That is the outlet’s account of her career history, not an independent medical assessment. The same report notes that she had three WWE Divas Championship reigns.
What is known about her fitness routine
Wrestling Inc.’s June 2023 story also noted that Mendez had discussed fitness and criticized diet culture. WWE has published a video interview titled “How AJ Lee got shredded abs, her ‘treat days’ & FCW lifting | What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon.” The page title establishes the interview’s subject, but without a transcript or verified account of the video, it is not a basis for assigning her a specific workout, diet, or training plan.
