Richard Goodall is no longer a school janitor. He retired from his West Vigo school custodial job at the end of the 2026 school year, after roughly two years of continuing the work following his America’s Got Talent win. He now combines mostly local performances with recording projects, including his single “Long Time Coming,” while a feature film about his life is reportedly in development.
What Richard Goodall is doing now
Goodall’s current work is centered on music rather than school maintenance. Reporting in June 2026 says he continues to book mostly local performances, has worked on music in Nashville and at a studio, and has released “Long Time Coming.” His public career is therefore developing across live shows and recorded music, rather than through a single national television engagement.
The same reporting says a feature film about his life is being developed by Everard Entertainment and Mad Chance. It is a development-stage project: no release date, cast announcement, distributor or completed film has been announced.
Is Richard Goodall still a janitor?
No. Goodall retired from his West Vigo school janitorial role at the end of the 2026 school year. That followed a transition period in which he kept working at the school while accepting new performance opportunities.
