Spoilers through episode 4 of Agatha All Along. Rio’s warning to Agatha—“That boy isn’t yours”—refers to Teen, but episode 4 does not settle his parentage or explain exactly why Rio says it then. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer says the scene is deliberately unclear in that respect; its central tension is that Teen comes between Agatha and Rio just as they seem close to reconnecting.
What happens at the end of episode 4?
In “If I Can’t Reach You / Let My Song Teach You,” Agatha and Rio share a private moment after discussing a painful relationship from Rio’s past. As Agatha appears ready to kiss her, Rio stops her and says, “That boy isn’t yours.” The boy is Teen, who has joined Agatha on the Witches’ Road.
The line interrupts a moment of apparent intimacy. It also raises a question about Teen’s place in Agatha’s life without answering it: the episode does not identify his parents or explain how Rio knows what she claims.
What does Rio mean by “That boy isn’t yours”?
Literally, Rio is telling Agatha that Teen is not her son. But the scene does not confirm the full circumstances behind that statement. It leaves open both the literal implications and Rio’s reason for bringing it up at that moment.

In a TVLine interview published October 2, 2024, creator and showrunner Jac Schaeffer said it was “not meant to be entirely clear” why Rio reveals the information then. She described the scene’s intention as being “really about Rio’s relationship with Agatha.” They are “on the precipice of reconnecting,” Schaeffer said, but “the boy” comes between them. (TVLine’s interview with Jac Schaeffer)
That makes the most grounded reading a dramatic one: Rio’s words act as an interruption and a boundary in a fraught relationship. They challenge Agatha at the moment she seems ready to move closer to Rio. The scene does not establish that Rio is lying, that she has told Agatha everything, or that her motive is purely protective.

Why does Rio stop Agatha from kissing her?
The episode places Rio’s warning just as Agatha and Rio approach a possible reconciliation. Earlier, Rio says she loved someone and had to do something she did not want to do because it was her job; she calls that person her scar. Agatha responds as though she understands Rio and the pain behind that history.
The conversation gives their relationship a history of intimacy and hurt. Rio’s sudden reference to Teen prevents the moment from becoming a simple reunion: Schaeffer’s explanation is that the boy comes between them. The episode does not provide a more definitive account of why Rio chooses that precise moment to speak.

What does episode 4 establish about Teen?
By the end of the episode, viewers know that Teen has traveled with Agatha and that his safety affects her. They also know that Rio says he is not Agatha’s. Those facts make the line emotionally consequential, but they do not reveal Teen’s parentage or prove how Rio learned about it.
- Shown: Agatha brings Teen along the Road and reacts strongly when he is injured.
- Said: Rio tells Agatha that Teen is not hers.
- Left unanswered: who Teen’s parents are, what Rio knows for certain, and why she chooses that moment to disclose it.
Viewers familiar with Marvel comics may connect Teen to Billy Kaplan, also known as Wiccan. Marvel’s official Wiccan profile describes Billy in comics continuity as a young magician and the reincarnation of one of Scarlet Witch and Vision’s twins. Marvel’s Young Avengers page and Wiccan and Speed reading guide offer related comics background. That context can inform theories, but it does not by itself establish what Rio’s line means in the MCU.

How the ending fits the series
Marvel’s official series page describes Agatha as a powerless witch drawn into the Witches’ Road quest by a mysterious Teen, with a coven assembled around them. The episode 4 ending sharpens that setup by making Teen’s connection to Agatha part of the tension between Agatha and Rio, rather than resolving his identity outright.
