Where did the Foo Fighters rumour come from?
PerthNow reported on 4 June 2025 that Triple M broadcaster Mark “Roo” Ricciuto had received a tip from an unnamed person in AFL circles that Foo Fighters could play at the MCG. It was a reported tip, not an official AFL announcement. PerthNow’s report also made clear that Ricciuto had not checked whether the band could attend. He said: “Now it’s not a done deal, I haven’t investigated, I haven’t even looked at whether they’re a chance of being here.”

Who was announced for the 2025 Grand Final pre-game show?
On 11 August 2025, the AFL announced that Snoop Dogg would headline the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment at the Toyota AFL Grand Final. The announcement did not describe Foo Fighters as part of the booking. AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said the league wanted Grand Final Day to celebrate “culture, energy, and entertainment” as well as football. The AFL’s announcement confirmed Snoop Dogg as headliner.
The AFL’s 15 September lineup announcement said six Australian acts would join Snoop Dogg, with entertainment due to start at 1:30pm AEST. The full lineup announcement supplied that event timing and additional-act detail.

What happened on Grand Final day?
The 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final was played at the MCG on Saturday 27 September. In its 30 September recap, the venue said Snoop Dogg headlined the pre-game entertainment, alongside Australian performers Jessica Mauboy, Baker Boy, Tash Sultana and Mike Brady.
