Adrienne Gang, chief stew on the first season of Below Deck, said a night out in Tampa turned frightening after her drink was spiked with GHB. A 2020 account of her recollection reported that she later learned a drug test had detected GHB. Gang went on to continue working in yachting after the show, according to a 2015 Bravo retrospective; that dated profile does not establish what she does today.
What Adrienne Gang said happened in Tampa
In a February 2020 article, Showbiz Cheat Sheet summarized Gang’s recollection of going out with friends in Tampa. Gang said her drink had been spiked with GHB. The article reported that she had little memory of what followed, regained awareness while being fingerprinted at jail, and was told she had been arrested after a conflict with a cab driver.
Gang said she felt something was wrong the next day and obtained a drug test. According to the same account, she learned ten days later that the test had detected GHB. These are details of Gang’s account as relayed in secondary reporting, not independently verified forensic or legal findings. The available reporting does not establish that anyone was identified, charged, or convicted for drugging her.
As quoted by the Tampa Bay Times and relayed by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Gang said, “I could have easily ended up in a ditch.” The original Times report was not available in the reporting consulted here, so the quotation is attributed through the secondary article.

Her role on Below Deck
Gang joined Below Deck as chief stew for its first season, although her usual work on yachts was as a chef. In a 2013 Bravo interview, she described the pressure of keeping guest service running regardless of how she felt: “At the end of the day, no matter if you are sick, or tired, or hungover, there are still guests on board that need 24-hour care, and I can’t let our service suffer.”
Looking back at the show in 2020, Gang described its first season to The Guardian as “a certified nightmare” and “a giant clusterfuck.” Those phrases reflect her recollection of production, rather than an independent assessment of how the season was made.

Did she keep working in yachting?
Yes, according to Bravo’s 2015 retrospective. It said Gang left the yacht Honor after season one, continued yachting, and worked on another boat within two weeks. She also briefly returned to Below Deck during season two as a guest. At the time of that profile, she was based in South Florida, sailing, running a boat, and working as a chef.
That is a snapshot from 2015, not confirmation of Gang’s employment or projects in 2026.

What Gang said about drink-testing strips
Gang expressed support for strips marketed to test drinks, saying, “I feel like if I had known about these strips, I would have made every single one of my girlfriends carry one. Because why would you not? It’s an added layer of protection.” Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s report named Drink Safe Technologies, but the product’s specifications and current availability were not verified in that reporting.
Her comment is a personal view, not evidence that a particular strip detects every substance or that a tested drink is safe. The account does not establish which substances a strip can detect, how reliably it works, or what its limits are. A test should not be treated as a guarantee of safety.
