Adriana Chechik showed a long surgical scar on her back when she returned to Twitch on October 30, 2022, after being injured at TwitchCon San Diego. She also described how ordinary tasks still left her out of breath. The return stream offered a glimpse of her recovery at that time—not an update on her health today.
What happened at TwitchCon
During TwitchCon San Diego in October 2022, Chechik was injured after landing in a foam pit. Contemporary reports said she broke her back in two places; those accounts describe the reported incident and are not an independent investigation of the event setup or responsibility. Insider Gaming and PC Gamer covered the injury and her return.
In an October 12 social post quoted by Kotaku, Chechik said her surgery went well and lasted “5 hrs 30 minutes.” She wrote that surgeons had performed more fusions than expected and described crushed bones and nerve damage to her bladder. These are details from her account, not independently reviewed medical records.

On October 30, Chechik returned to Twitch and showed the surgical scar on her back. Kotaku described it as running down the centre of her back. Insider Gaming reported that it extended around half the length of her back. PC Gamer later reported that she confirmed the scar was about 11 inches long; that measurement is attributed to Chechik through the outlet, not an independent measurement.

Chechik also spoke about the toll of recovery. PC Gamer quoted her saying, “I get out of breath holding my phone, everything.” She described the surgeons’ work as amazing and said the stitches were inside because she was a model, according to the outlet’s account of the stream. These remarks convey how she described her condition then; they should not be read as a current medical assessment.
What the 2022 reports establish
The scar reveal was part of Chechik’s first Twitch return after the October injury, and her comments focused on surgery and the difficulty of everyday activity during recovery. The contemporaneous reporting reviewed here does not establish her current health or provide a later medical update.
