Adolescence won eight awards at the 77th Emmy Awards in 2025, and 15-year-old Owen Cooper won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. The Television Academy called Cooper the youngest male Emmy acting winner ever. That age-based record is distinct from the comedy-series wins record set by The Studio.
How many Emmys did Adolescence win?
The Television Academy’s official winners document lists eight awards for Adolescence across the 2025 telecast and Creative Arts ceremonies. Six came during the September 14 telecast; two more came in Limited or Anthology Series categories at the Creative Arts ceremonies. The Academy’s winners document and 2025 recap distinguish those awards by ceremony.

The six telecast wins
- Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series
- Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie: Owen Cooper
- Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie: Erin Doherty
- Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie: Stephen Graham

Was Owen Cooper 15 when he won?
Yes. Cooper was 15 when he won for playing Jamie Miller. The Television Academy had also identified him as the youngest nominee in that supporting-actor category at age 15. Its September 15, 2025 recap described him as the youngest male Emmy acting winner ever.

The wording matters: this is a record for a male acting winner, not a claim that Cooper was the youngest person to win an Emmy in any category. Cooper said after his win: “I think tonight proves that if you listen and you focus and you get out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life. Who cares if you get embarrassed?” The Academy reproduced the remark in its retrospective on Cooper and Adolescence.
Which Emmy record did Adolescence break?
Cooper’s youngest-male-acting-winner distinction is the specific age record tied to Adolescence at the 77th Emmys. The program also earned eight awards, but it did not set the 2025 comedy-series wins record. That record belonged to The Studio, which won 13 awards, surpassing the previous record of 11 held by The Bear. The Academy’s 2025 awards recap reports the comparison.
