Adele and Simon Konecki had a son, Angelo, in 2012. Adele has shared a few reflections on motherhood and on how their separation affected her, including the background to her song “My Little Love.” She has also made clear that Angelo’s life is private and that he should decide for himself, when old enough, whether to be publicly known as her child.
Who is Adele’s son Angelo?
Angelo is the son of singer Adele and Simon Konecki. The Guardian reported his birth in 2012, and ABC News also gave that birth year in its 2019 coverage of the couple’s separation. Neither source establishes an exact birthday, so a precise current age cannot be confirmed from the public reporting cited here. The Guardian’s 2015 profile and ABC News’s 2019 report provide the dated context.

Age references in interviews are snapshots, not current-age confirmation: TIME referred to Angelo as three in 2015, while ELLE and The Guardian described him as nine in 2021. TIME’s 2015 interview, ELLE’s 2021 excerpt, and The Guardian’s 2021 coverage are dated accounts; they do not establish his age today.
What Adele has said about motherhood
In a 2015 TIME interview, Adele described the balance she was trying to strike during promotion for her album 25. She said her then-three-year-old son helped keep her calm: “But then I realized, he’s been keeping me totally cool and calm about the whole thing.” She also spoke of motherhood as giving her purpose and of wanting to protect her family’s ordinary life. These were her recollections at that time, not a detailed account of Angelo’s life. Read the TIME interview.

Why Adele keeps Angelo’s life private
Adele has said she does not want her family to be treated as part of her public image. In TIME, she explained that Angelo should be able to choose for himself, when old enough, whether to be known as her child: “If my kid decides that when he’s old enough to make his own decision that he wants to be known for being my kid, I’ll be annoyed, but I won’t stop him. I’ll be like, ‘It’s your choice now.’ But this was my dream. This isn’t theirs.” Her 2015 interview with TIME makes that boundary explicit.
When Adele and Konecki announced their separation in April 2019, their representatives said: “They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.” ABC News quoted the statement at the time. It documents what their representatives said in 2019, not a current update about their family arrangements. ABC News reported the statement.

Angelo, the separation, and “My Little Love”
In a 2021 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Adele discussed how she understood Angelo’s experience of her separation from Konecki and described the empathy she felt from him. She connected those reflections to “My Little Love,” a song on 30. Adele also drew a clear line around what she could speak for: “I can’t tell his story actually for him. But I can speak about where he was finding himself in it.” That distinction matters: the public account is Adele’s perspective, not an independent account of Angelo’s private feelings. ELLE published an excerpt of the conversation.
In a separate 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Adele spoke about having hoped to create a united family, partly because she had not grown up in one, and about feeling disappointed when her marriage ended. The Guardian summarized those remarks as emotional context for Adele’s experience; they do not establish a custody dispute or describe present-day conflict. The Guardian covered the Oprah interview.

What is—and is not—publicly established
Reliable public accounts support a limited picture: Angelo’s parents, his reported birth year, Adele’s dated comments about motherhood and separation, and her stated preference for protecting his privacy. They do not establish his exact birthday, current age, schooling, residence, custody arrangements, or present feelings. Adele’s interviews offer her recollections; they are not a license to fill in details she has chosen not to share.
