That wording is important because some reports also described a stroke and other serious complications among the findings in the medical examiner’s record. Those findings should not be substituted for the official cause. The reported determination was not that Frehley died simply “of a stroke,” but that the fatal injuries resulted from a fall.
What injuries were reported?
Reporting based on the Morris County medical examiner’s documentation described extensive trauma. The reported findings included:
- Blunt-force trauma to the head
- A fracture at the back of the skull
- Facial fractures near the eyes and left ear
- Hemorrhaging and a subdural hematoma
- A stroke listed among the medical findings
- Bruising involving the abdomen, thigh and right hip
The three-page record was an external-examination document identifying Frehley as Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley and listing the Morris County case. These details explain the seriousness of his condition, but they do not change the medical examiner’s stated cause and manner of death.
