Launch coverage described two silicone plugs, a vibrating bullet that can be used as a butt plug, and a remote. Chatfield said the idea grew from her own positive experiences with vibrating butt plugs; her comments about stigma and pleasure are personal views, not evidence that anal play suits everyone.
What is Option A?
Option A is a kit developed by Chatfield and Normal, a sexual-wellness brand. PerthNow reported the collaboration on January 22, 2024. Normal’s product page describes the kit as modular, with two size options and a vibrating component that can be used in different ways.
PerthNow reported that the kit contained a small silicone plug, a medium plug, a vibrating bullet that can transform into a vibrating butt plug, and a remote. This is a description of the launch offering; check Normal’s current Option A product page for the latest product details.
What inspired Chatfield to create it?
Chatfield told PEDESTRIAN.TV that her own positive experiences with vibrating butt plugs prompted her to think about a modular product. That is her account of the idea, not independent evidence of a particular benefit or experience for other users.

In a statement reported by PerthNow, she said she wanted to make a kit with Normal because she had found anal play could be pleasurable and intense. She also recalled feeling overwhelmed when she first became curious about trying it, saying she had not received sex-positive information while growing up. Those comments help explain the product’s motivation: presenting a subject she sees as under-discussed in a more approachable way.
What taboo was the launch addressing?
Chatfield has spoken about stigma and pressure surrounding anal sex, including pressure directed at women. Those are her observations, not findings from a population study. The launch story is therefore about both a sex toy and the conversations around sexual curiosity, education and shame.

That framing should not be mistaken for a recommendation that anyone try anal play. It is not obligatory, universally pleasurable, or a measure of a person’s sexuality. Interest, comfort and boundaries vary; no one owes a partner a particular kind of sex.
What should a beginner know about anal play?
Normal’s safer-sex guide, published January 20, 2024, recommends lubricant to reduce friction, says play should not involve unwanted pain, and notes that STI transmission is possible through anal penetration or play. Normal is the product maker, so this is brand-authored guidance rather than advice from a public-health authority. Its safer-sex guide discusses preparation and hygiene.

Anyone considering a new activity should be able to pause or stop, communicate boundaries, and avoid treating pain or pressure as something to push through.
