But there is no verified public inventory or total valuation of his personal collection. The headline figure often attached to one of the watches—a $6.5 million auction result—was for a Patek Philippe reference, not a confirmed sale of Messi’s own example.
What is known about Messi’s watch collection?
Watch roundups associate Messi with an impressive rotation of luxury watches, but “collection” is often shorthand for pieces he has been photographed wearing. A sighting does not, by itself, establish that he owns the watch. Financial Express says its roundup relies mainly on public appearances rather than official confirmation from Messi or his team: Financial Express’s overview of Messi’s watches.
There is no authoritative public figure for the number of watches Messi owns or their combined value. Different articles identify different pieces and combine different kinds of pricing—auction results, retail prices, dealer estimates and secondary-market ranges. Those figures cannot be added together as if they were a verified appraisal.
Reported watches and the figures attached to them
The examples below distinguish what reporting associates with Messi from what a price actually represents. Estimates are not confirmed purchase prices, and reference-level values do not establish the value of a particular watch he may have worn.

Why the often-quoted $6.5 million is not a collection valuation
The $6.5 million figure refers to Phillips’ December 2021 auction of a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-018, commonly associated with the “Tiffany Blue” dial. It is an auction result for an example of that reference. It does not verify that Messi owned the auctioned watch, that his own example sold, or that the rest of his watches have any particular combined value.
Likewise, the near-$9 million estimate reported for the Patek Philippe 5531R concerns the model’s rarity, not a documented transaction involving Messi’s watch. Auction results and estimates can provide market context, but they answer different questions.

Can Messi’s collection fairly be called “worth millions”?
It is fair to say that media reports associate Messi with watches whose reported estimates and reference-level market figures reach into the millions. It is not possible to state a verified total for his personal collection on the evidence available in public reporting.
For example, WatchesOff5th gives a rough secondary-market sum of $10–14 million for its list of 17 watches. That is one publisher’s estimate of the watches on its list, not an audited inventory or independently verified valuation of everything Messi owns. The most accurate way to read any such total is to ask what it counts, whether its prices are auction results or estimates, and whether the listed watches are confirmed possessions or simply associated with Messi through appearances.

- Separate a sighting from ownership. A photograph can support “seen wearing” or “reported to wear”; it does not establish who bought or owns the watch.
- Check the kind of price. An auction result records a transaction for a particular example. A dealer estimate, retail figure or secondary-market range is a different kind of evidence.
- Keep the reference specific. A price for a precise reference or gem-set variant should not be generalized to every watch in the same family.
- Keep the date attached. Auction results and resale estimates from different dates and publishers are not directly comparable.
Watch media and dealer roundups are useful for identifying reported models and giving market context, but they do not amount to an inventory published by Messi, his representatives or the watch brands. Lists of additional Patek Philippe, Rolex and Audemars Piguet references should therefore be read as reported associations unless independent ownership documentation is available.
