On the site’s page as accessed October 8, 2026, the film had a 47% Tomatometer from 195 reviews and an 84% Popcornmeter from more than 10,000 verified ratings. Those are distinct measures, and both the scores and counts can change.
What the Rotten Tomatoes scores mean
The Tomatometer reflects critics’ reviews; the Popcornmeter reflects audience ratings. In this October 8, 2026 snapshot, the audience score is 37 percentage points higher than the critics’ score. That describes a difference in reception, not a shared explanation for why every critic or viewer liked or disliked the film.

Why critics and audiences may be responding differently
The available reviews point to a tension between the game’s open-ended creativity and the film’s conventional quest-adventure structure. The range is visible in the roundup’s quoted reactions. Neil Smith of Total Film called it “rather fun,” praising its exuberant color and irreverent energy. Liz Shannon Miller of Consequence highlighted how the game’s visual aesthetic translated to the screen, including its cubist sheep and warrior pigs. Those points help illustrate why the film’s spectacle and performances can work for some viewers even as other reviewers question its writing or originality.
How the score has changed since release
