Spoilers: Yes, A Minecraft Movie has two credits scenes. A mid-credits moment brings Marlene and the Nitwit together; the final scene, after the credits, introduces the red-haired woman identified as Alex, Steve’s counterpart from the game. Her face is not shown. The reveal points toward a wider Minecraft story, but it does not disclose Alex’s casting or what role she might play in a sequel.
What happens in each credits scene?
The mid-credits scene: Marlene and the Nitwit
Marlene and the Nitwit are together in her office when her ex-husband appears. The Nitwit speaks English and declares his love for Marlene; game-inspired red hearts appear around the couple. GamesRadar+ describes this as the film’s mid-credits scene.

The post-credits scene: Steve meets Alex
After the remaining credits, Steve returns to his former home to retrieve a chest he left in the attic. A red-haired woman answers the door. GameSpot identifies her as Alex, though the scene does not show her face. This is the final, after-credits scene.
What does the Alex reveal mean?
Alex is not a character created for the movie: she is Steve’s counterpart in the Minecraft game. In an interview reported by GameSpot on April 3, 2025, director Jared Hess called Alex “one of the massively iconic characters, right on equal ground with Steve.” Her brief appearance brings one of the game’s central characters into the movie’s world and leaves an evident path for a follow-up.

That is a sequel tease, not a full story announcement. The scene does not show Alex’s face, establish who plays her, or explain what she will do next. Hess’s comments at the film’s release about returning to the world were conditional: he said the team was excited to continue if the first film did well.
What is confirmed about the sequel?
On October 9, 2025, the Associated Press reported that Warner Bros. had announced a sequel planned for July 2027, with Hess returning to direct and co-write. At the time of that report, the sequel was untitled and no plot or cast had been announced. The July 2027 date is the plan reported then, not a guarantee that the schedule cannot change.
