The Book of Boba Fett places its alien characters in the criminal and civic life of Tatooine after Jabba the Hutt’s rule. Official Star Wars material identifies several species through named figures and groups: Twi’leks, Aqualish, Pykes, Trandoshans, Rodians and Wookiees. This guide connects each to the series’ setting and story, while distinguishing firm character identifications from broader species appearances.
How the aliens fit into the story
Released beginning December 29, 2021, the seven-episode series follows Boba Fett and Fennec Shand as they return to Tatooine to claim territory once ruled by Jabba and his crime syndicate. Its alien species are not simply a roll call of background designs: several are tied directly to Mos Espa’s power structure, criminal activity and public spaces. StarWars.com’s series overview places the story in the New Republic era.
The identifications below rely on official series pages, Databank entries and episode guides. A named character with a species listed in the Databank is stronger evidence than an uncaptioned figure in a crowd. The available official material confirms examples, not every alien shown or a definitive total for the series.
Species and characters to know
| Species | Character or group | Series context | What the official source establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twi’lek | Bib Fortuna | Formerly part of Jabba’s palace order | The Databank identifies Bib Fortuna as a Twi’lek and Jabba’s former majordomo. |
| Aqualish | An Aqualish crime family | Mos Espa’s Worker’s District | Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 material says the district is under the family’s control; it does not provide a general Aqualish species biography. |
| Pyke | The Pyke Syndicate | Spice trade and the local criminal conflict | Official series material identifies the syndicate and its spice-trade role. A StarWars.com feature discusses the Pykes’ wider criminal history and their distinctive fishlike head design. |
| Trandoshan | Dokk Strassi | Mos Espa crime boss; Trandoshans are also noted gambling at Garsa’s Sanctuary | The Databank identifies Strassi as a Trandoshan. Its species entry describes Trandoshans as reptilian humanoids with scaled skin and long limbs, and notes their reputation as hunters. |
| Rodian | Series appearance confirmed; no named character established here | Series presence | The Databank’s Rodian entry describes the species and lists The Book of Boba Fett among its appearances. |
| Wookiee | Krrsantan | Former gladiator and bounty hunter | The Databank identifies Krrsantan as a Wookiee and confirms his role in the series. |
Twi’leks: Bib Fortuna and the old palace order
Bib Fortuna is a particularly clear link between the series’ new regime and the criminal order that preceded it. StarWars.com’s Databank entry identifies him as a Twi’lek and describes his former position as Jabba’s majordomo. His species identification is attached to a named character, rather than inferred from an unidentified background appearance.

Aqualish: control of the Worker’s District
The Aqualish matter here because of their place in Mos Espa’s local politics. The Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 materials describe the Worker’s District as controlled by an Aqualish crime family. That establishes a specific group’s influence over a district; it should not be stretched into a broader account of Aqualish culture or biology. See the official Chapter 6 guide and Chapter 7 guide.
Pykes: a syndicate built around the spice trade
The Pykes are both an alien species and, in this story, the members of a criminal syndicate. Official series material connects the Pyke Syndicate to spice trafficking, making it central to the underworld conflict rather than merely another species on screen. StarWars.com’s Pyke feature gives context on the group’s wider criminal history and discusses the fishlike design of their heads, including a behind-the-scenes account from The Art of Solo.

Trandoshans: Dokk Strassi and Garsa’s Sanctuary
Dokk Strassi is a named Mos Espa crime boss whose Databank species entry identifies him as a Trandoshan. The species page describes Trandoshans as reptilian humanoids with scaled skin and long limbs, and says they have a reputation as hunters. It also notes Trandoshans gambling at Garsa’s Sanctuary. Those general traits come from the species entry; Strassi’s particular role comes from his character entry. See the official Dokk Strassi and Trandoshan Databank pages.
Rodians: a confirmed appearance, not a named identification
The official Rodian Databank entry lists the series among the species’ appearances and describes Rodians as reptilian, with antennae, scaled green skin, large round eyes and snouts. The appearance credit confirms that Rodians are present in the series, but does not by itself identify a particular character. Read the Rodian Databank entry.

Wookiees: Krrsantan, former gladiator and bounty hunter
Krrsantan’s official biography identifies him as a Wookiee and describes him as a former gladiator and bounty hunter. That character-specific information is more useful than assuming every Wookiee shares his history. The Krrsantan Databank entry confirms his place in the series.
How certain are these identifications?
The strongest identifications are attached to named characters whose Databank pages explicitly give their species, including Bib Fortuna, Dokk Strassi and Krrsantan. A species appearance credit, such as the Rodian entry, confirms series presence without necessarily identifying a named individual. Episode-guide statements establish the Aqualish family’s control of a district, while official series material ties the Pykes to the syndicate and spice operation.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A broader Star Wars alien reference
Readers looking beyond this series may find Penguin Random House’s listing for Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Alien Species useful. The publisher describes it as a general illustrated reference covering more than one hundred individual species, with a full-color illustration for each. That figure describes the book’s coverage, not the number of species in The Book of Boba Fett; the listing does not establish that it covers every species introduced in newer series.
