Michael Ilesanmi said he moved to the United States expecting his relationship with Angela Deem to improve, but that it deteriorated instead. Those are Michael’s explanations for leaving, not an independent finding about the couple.
Why did Michael leave Angela?
After leaving Angela’s Georgia home, Michael told Entertainment Tonight that he had hoped moving to the United States would make the relationship better. Instead, he said, conflict and his sense of being unwelcome made the situation increasingly difficult.

“I thought when I got here things will be better for us,” Michael said. “But I was wrong, you know? Things got worse when I got here.”
He also described the living situation this way: “I felt like an unwanted guest.” He said it had reached a point where he “couldn’t just bear it anymore.” The interview was published July 25, 2024, after he had left Angela’s home.

Michael also denied cheating on Angela in the United States and denied scamming her for a green card. These are his denials as reported in the interview; the available coverage does not establish them as independent findings.
When did they separate, and are they divorced?
TV Insider’s October 2, 2026 preview places the separation in February 2024. In that account, Michael recalled waking up and realizing, “I can’t take it anymore,” and described adjusting to a new country as difficult.
Michael’s divorce from Angela was reported finalized on March 10, 2026. TV Insider reported that date in a March 11, 2026 explainer, citing Michael’s confirmation; it was not presented as a review of court records. The October preview likewise said the divorce had been finalized a few weeks before filming season two of 90 Day: Hunt for Love.

Michael returned to the franchise as a single man for season two of 90 Day: Hunt for Love. TV Insider’s October 2 preview said he had a crush on Brittany Banks, whom he knew from Houston, where he had lived for two years.
A separate CinemaBlend recap of the season premiere, published October 6, 2026, described Michael connecting with newcomer Iris. The preview’s mention of Brittany and the recap’s account of Iris concern different coverage of the season; they should not be treated as the same development.
