“In A Pickle,” Season 6, Episode 20 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, brings a proposal and a wedding, but neither celebration settles the couples’ biggest disagreements. Sarper and Shekinah get engaged while imagining different countries for their future; Lily and Josh marry after a wedding-day payment scare; and James leaves Indonesia alone as Meitalia stays behind. Meanwhile, Corona weighs school against life in Iceland, and Joanne chooses to remain near her children while continuing her relationship with Sean long distance. The episode-specific details below are reported in Elizabeth Kwiatkowski’s Reality TV World recap, published November 12, 2024.
What happens in “In A Pickle”?
The episode’s five storylines turn on competing plans for marriage, home, family, education, and money. Two couples celebrate major milestones, but those events do not resolve their underlying differences. Corona is still deciding whether to stay in Iceland or return to the United States for school, while Joanne commits to staying near her sons and continuing with Sean from a distance.

Do Sarper and Shekinah get engaged?
Yes. On a romantic boat date in Turkey, Sarper sings to Shekinah, gives her a ring, and proposes. She accepts. They later hold an engagement ceremony in front of Sarper’s parents and exchange rings.
The engagement does not settle where they will live. Shekinah sees marriage as part of a path toward Sarper moving to the United States. Sarper tells his family he wants to stay in Turkey and hopes Shekinah will agree. She feels welcomed by his family and anticipates a future in the United States, so the couple’s plans remain at odds even as they celebrate.

Corona is unsure whether to remain in Iceland or return to the United States to resume school. She says she does not want to be a lifelong girlfriend and feels insecure about her life there. She has a limited window to decide whether to go back, and she is concerned about giving up her education and career path.
Ingi is committed to her but does not initially seem to see marriage happening soon. When Corona raises the possibility of leaving, he first reacts to the prospect of spending less time together. Later, he says he can imagine them marrying within a year and asks her to stay. That shift reassures Corona, but she has not made a final decision about school or Iceland.

Do Lily and Josh get married?
Yes. On the wedding day, Josh’s credit card is declined while he is paying part of the cost. With guests and clients already on their way, Lily pays the remaining amount. The incident leaves her disappointed and worried that it has spoiled the day.
After she gets dressed in traditional attire, Lily feels beautiful, and seeing Josh helps her worries recede. They marry. Afterward, Josh apologizes to Lily’s daughter. She responds graciously but still expects him to earn her trust through his actions; the wedding does not resolve that concern.

Why does James return to the United States without Meitalia?
James says they are running out of money and time and wants to work toward their future, so he returns to the United States alone while Meitalia stays in Indonesia. Meitalia feels blindsided that he bought a ticket and is afraid of moving back to the United States.
They also disagree about whether Meitalia’s sister should visit and about whether a move to the United States would mean leaving Indonesia for good. They part emotionally at the airport. The episode shows them departing separately amid unresolved disagreements; it does not establish that they have permanently separated.

Does Joanne leave her children to be with Sean?
No. Joanne’s son tells her that he and his brother would rather have her nearby, although they do not want to make the decision for her. Joanne tells her son Joey, “you come first,” and decides to stay near her children. She tells Sean she cannot leave them now.
Sean understands but is disappointed. They agree to continue their relationship long distance, with Joanne saying she will visit as much as possible. Sean worries about enduring another six years apart. Their decision is to keep the relationship going for now, not to break up.
