They condemned abuse, expressed support for victims and said they had no inappropriate experiences with Collins; Mitchell added that they did not excuse or condone his behavior.
What the actors said before the rewatch
Mitchell, Gallagher and Rosman made their comments at the start of a rewatch episode of Catching Up With the Camdens. They played Lucy, Simon and Ruthie Camden, respectively, on the series. Their statement addressed Collins and the abuse reports; it should not be taken as a statement on behalf of every cast member.

Gallagher said: “All forms of abuse — sexual abuse of any kind — it’s inexcusable. And victims of abuse need to be shown compassion, and they should be given support.”
Rosman clarified: “But we want to be clear that we did not have any inappropriate experiences with Stephen.” Mitchell said: “Stephen will not be joining us on this podcast, and we do not excuse or condone his behavior.” TVLine reported the cast’s comments on Sept. 25, 2024.

What Collins said in 2014
A decade before the podcast remarks, Collins publicly acknowledged inappropriate sexual contact with three female minors. In a statement reported by CBS News on Dec. 17, 2014, he said: “Forty years ago, I did something terribly wrong that I deeply regret.” The reported incidents spanned 1973 to 1994. This is an account of Collins’s public statement, not a claim that a court made a finding.
ABC News also reported on Collins’s 2014 statement, and separately covered his interview with Katie Couric that December. The chronology matters: the actors’ comments came in 2024, after Collins’s public acknowledgment in 2014.

How the revelations affected the cast’s view of the show
The Los Angeles Times reported that the revelations surprised cast members. Gallagher said they negatively affected how he and others looked back on the series, saying “it colored the way that we all look back on the show negatively.” That describes the impact on his perspective; it does not establish what the actors knew at the time or extend their personal account beyond what they said.
