Those sources reveal how the family is described, what Amber says about filming and parenting, and which 2025 storylines TLC highlighted—without treating an edited reality series or a dated preview as a complete picture of the family’s life today.
Who is in the Johnston family?
TLC describes 7 Little Johnstons as following a family of seven in rural Georgia. The show page currently lists season 17 episodes, including episodes about Liz and Brice’s wedding and other family activities. TLC also offers a “Watch Now” option on its official series page; availability beyond that page can vary by location and change over time.
For the family’s background, the production company Figure 8 Films says Trent and Amber have five children: biological children Jonah and Elizabeth, and adopted children Anna, Alex, and Emma. Figure 8 identifies Anna as adopted from Russia, Alex from South Korea, and Emma from China. This is the production company’s description of the family. Figure 8 Films’ series description
TLC’s series page calls the Johnstons “the largest known family of little people in the world.” That is the network’s promotional wording; the page does not provide a methodology or independent statistical basis for the superlative.

What does Amber say about raising children with dwarfism?
In a viewer Q&A published by TLC, Amber Johnston was asked what advice she would give for raising children with dwarfism. Her answer was: “Raise them to be independent, strong, confident and successful citizens in society!” It is Amber’s personal parenting advice, not a clinical recommendation or a rule that applies to every family. How much of the show does Amber say is scripted?
Asked whether the series was scripted, Amber told TLC: “Not one single line! And we feel like it’s pretty evident in our episodes. We’re not actors, just a family sharing, educating and providing good entertainment!” That is her account of filming, rather than independent confirmation of how every production decision is made.

Amber also said that hours of footage are edited down to 44 minutes for an episode and that what viewers see reflects who the family are. Her explanation points to an important distinction: even when participants describe scenes as unscripted, an episode is still a selected and edited version of much longer filming.
What did TLC’s 2025 season preview reveal?
In a preview published September 4, 2025, TLC described several storylines for the upcoming season. It said Liz and Brice were raising their daughter Leighton and highlighted milestones including swimming lessons and daycare. The preview also reported that Trent had been diagnosed with White Matter Disease caused by untreated sleep apnea; TLC said further damage could be prevented but existing damage could not be reversed. These are details as TLC reported them in that dated preview, not an independent medical assessment or an update on Trent’s health today.
