Three picks, depending on what you want to watch
| Film | What it offers | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| All the Money in the World (2017) | A biographical crime thriller directed by Ridley Scott, based on John Pearson’s book Painfully Rich: The Outrageous Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J. Paul Getty. Its cast includes Michelle Williams, Christopher Plummer, Mark Wahlberg, and Timothy Hutton. | A crime story rooted in the Getty family’s history. |
| Another Simple Favor (2025) | A sequel to A Simple Favor, with director Paul Feig returning alongside Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. Emily Nelson invites Stephanie Smothers to a wedding in Capri, where another murder mystery unfolds. | A follow-up mystery for viewers familiar with the first film. |
| The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) | The final film in Peter Jackson’s fantasy trilogy. BGR singled it out as a choice for viewers with time for one movie and reported that the trilogy was streaming on Prime Video on May 1, 2025. | A long-form fantasy finale, especially if you have watched the earlier films. |
Why these three stand out in the roundup
A historical crime drama
All the Money in the World draws on John Pearson’s 1995 book about the fortunes and misfortunes of J. Paul Getty’s heirs. The combination of a real-family subject, Ridley Scott’s direction, and a prominent cast makes it the most directly biographical choice among the three.

A sequel with a new mystery
Another Simple Favor continues the story of Stephanie and Emily, shifting the setup to a wedding in Capri. It is the clearest pick if you want a contemporary murder mystery, though the sequel’s premise follows the first film’s characters.
A trilogy-ending epic
The Return of the King is the natural selection for a fantasy marathon or a final chapter after The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. BGR’s May 2025 report said all three Lord of the Rings films were available then; it did not establish their availability beyond that date.
