Its story follows Harry Bosch, Honey Chandler and Maddie Bosch, drawing plot elements from two Michael Connelly novels. The Bosch television story also has a related continuation in Ballard.
1. Season 3 is the final season of Bosch: Legacy
Amazon described season 3 as the third and final season, and Michael Connelly announced that it would be the series’ last. In a September 6, 2024 post, Connelly called it “our best yet”—his opinion at the time—and said it would bring a close to a 10-season run for the character played by Titus Welliver, counting the original Bosch and Bosch: Legacy together.

2. The 10-episode season has finished airing
Amazon announced a March 27, 2025 premiere and an April 17 finale. The release began with four episodes, followed by two episodes each week. Amazon said the premiere was available in more than 240 countries and territories; that describes the announced launch footprint, not a guarantee of current availability in every market.
Amazon’s announcement said the season streams exclusively on Prime Video and is included with Prime membership. For current access, check the Prime Video catalog for your region, since catalog access and membership terms can vary by country and change over time.
#1 Best Overall
- Action from the 1982 Clint Eastwood Clint Eastwood and Freddie Jones.
3. Three storylines put Bosch, Chandler and Maddie under pressure
The season’s murder investigation surfaces dangerous secrets and puts its three central characters at risk:
- Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver): A family’s disappearance haunts his investigation and forces him to confront the limits of justice.
- Honey “Money” Chandler (Mimi Rogers): She is in a fiercely contested race to become Los Angeles district attorney.
- Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz): She becomes entangled in violent follow-home robberies.
This is a spoiler-light overview of the season’s central conflicts.
4. The season draws on two Michael Connelly novels, but is not a direct adaptation
Season 3 uses plot elements from Desert Star (2022) and a small part from The Black Ice (1993), according to Connelly’s official Bosch television page. Amazon also names both books in its season description. The connection is strongest with Desert Star; neither book should be treated as a complete, scene-by-scene version of the season.

Desert Star is the most relevant related-book choice if you want to explore the source material. Reading it—or The Black Ice—is not required to follow the season.

Bosch: Legacy closes its own run, but Connelly’s official series page says Harry Bosch appears in the related television series Ballard. The same page frames Bosch: Legacy as Bosch’s next career chapter as a private investigator, working with his former adversary Honey Chandler, while Maddie joins the police force. Check your regional streaming catalog for Ballard availability rather than assuming it is offered in the same place everywhere.
